Family Therapy in Health Care is a meta-framework within which one can practice any type of family therapy. This general framework is based on the biopsychosocial systems approach, which recognizes that the mind and body are intimately related. With this brief approach, the current president of the APA (American Psychological Association), Susan H. McDaniel, introduces us to Family Therapy in Health Care, and presents her upcoming Conference entitled Family Therapy in Health Care: Overcoming the Mind-Body Separation, where she will address this concept and its many applications in a variety of settings.
We will have the opportunity to attend this interesting Conference next November, between the 17th and 20th, at the IX International Congress of Clinical Psychology and XIV National Congress of Clinical Psychology to be held in Santander.
Dr. McDaniel, in addition to being the current president of the APA, develops her academic and professional work as director of the Family Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester (New York), where she is also associate chair of the Department of Family Medicine. She is also the director of the Patient and Family Centered Care training program at the University of Rochester. Author of numerous publications and scientific monographs, she is a recognized expert in family therapy and an international reference in the promotion of integrated health care.
