John Quiggin (March 29, 1956; Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian economist and professor. He was a laureate member of the Australian Research Council at the University of Queensland, and is a member of the Board of the Australian Government’s Climate Change Authority.[1][2] Quiggin completed his undergraduate studies at the Australian National University.
Quiggin completed his undergraduate studies at the Australian National University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Mathematics in 1978 and a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours with the University Medal and Economics Society Award in 1980. He then completed a Master of Economics through coursework and thesis at the Australian National University in 1984, and completed his Ph. D. in Economics at the University of New England in 1988, receiving the Drummond Prize for the best doctoral thesis.
From 1978 to 1983 he was a research economist and in 1986 was the Chief Economist of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, the predecessor of the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics in the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Análisis de la situación en la pista de los jugadores en el saque y su relación con la dirección, el lado de la pista y el resultado del punto en pádel de alto nivel
Resumen. El objetivo de este estudio fue conocer la influencia de la posición táctica de los jugadores en el saque y su relación con la dirección, el lado de la pista y el resultado del punto en pádel de alto nivel. La muestra incluyó un total de 1071 puntos correspondientes a nueve partidos con 36 jugadores masculinos de 1ª Categoría Nacional. Se analizaron las variables relacionadas con la posición de la táctica de saque (convencional o australiana), la dirección del saque (pared lateral o “T”), el lado de la pista (derecha o izquierda) y el resultado del punto (ganar o perder la pareja de saque). Los resultados mostraron que los jugadores de pádel sirven entre el 75% y el 85% de las veces a la pared lateral del lado izquierdo de la pista (lado de las ventajas). En el lado derecho, se incrementa el porcentaje de saques a la “T”, especialmente utilizando una posición táctica australiana. Además, la pareja de sacadores gana un mayor porcentaje de puntos cuando utiliza la táctica tradicional. Sin embargo, estas diferencias no son significativas cuando los jugadores sacan a la “T” o a la pared lateral, desde ambos lados de la pista. Por último, el porcentaje de puntos ganados por la pareja de saque disminuye a medida que avanza el partido de pádel, especialmente con la táctica australiana del segundo al tercer set. Estos datos tienen una importante aplicación práctica en el diseño de ejercicios de pádel basados en las exigencias específicas de la competición técnico-táctica.
