Este estudio pretende avanzar en la comprensión del proceso de formación de la identidad europea en las etapas previas a la edad adulta. Participó una muestra de 268 jóvenes españoles de entre 16 y 25 años, que respondieron a preguntas sobre el futuro de Europa y su propio futuro. Los resultados mostraron que esta población muestra una alta sensibilidad hacia los valores democráticos, la consideración de la diversidad cultural y el respeto a los derechos humanos. La educación surge como una forma de responder a los retos que representan estos valores. La edad sólo afecta a algunos elementos, pero es posible identificar dos perfiles diferenciados: jóvenes con una identificación moderada con Europa y jóvenes que se sienten más fuertemente vinculados al proyecto común europeo. De estos resultados se desprende un perfil de jóvenes bastante identificados con la idea de una Europa unida y que piensan en la educación como una forma de socialización y aproximación a una cultura y proyecto social común.
