For the TOEFL I signed up for an academy in Madrid (I think it was 4 weeks with 3 classes of 1:30h per week), mostly to force myself to go to class and to recover the English I spoke before going to France. Changing “foreign” language is not silly, there was a time while I was in France when I was unable to string two sentences together in English without completely blocking myself.

– In my opinion, Writing is very much a “template”. Have a clear structure, know a set of a few set phrases to drop in any occasion and that’s it. I took the test at the Universidad Europea de Madrid, and the facilities are pretty good (certainly not like the rid ones in Hong-Kong). There are some “soundproofing” headphones so you can’t hear people while they do their oral part and the material works (except for the pencils, which are crappy to no end).
