Thanks to the dissemination of catalogs, the hermetic world of individual libraries can be transformed into an infinite universe of books that can be located, inventoried, frequented, consulted and, eventually, borrowed.3
As Álvarez Márquez states, the history of the book has been approached from different perspectives (Marxist, positivist or scientistic, etc.) in order to learn about the techniques of book publishing, its consumption and other sociological aspects related to authors, publishers and readers. Each discipline has focused its attention on one or other elements and has had conspicuous representatives who have left their mark:
However, despite the abundant existing bibliography, we miss, we repeat, an approach from Library Science that allows us to reconstruct a library to know the origin, the formation, its function in relation to its owner/s, the intellectual treatment given to the collection and the instruments of information retrieval.
