In 2019, the university’s headquarters moved from its historical location in Bad Honnef / Bonn to Erfurt, Thuringia.[4] In 2021, the university was permanently renamed “IU Internationale Hochschule” (IU International University).
The university was founded in 1998 and started operations in 2000. It is divided into four independent areas: IU Campus Studies (with an International Management orientation), IU Distance Learning (distance section), IU Combined Studies (formerly called “IU Part-Time”) and IU Dual Studies (dual education, consisting of combined studies with work experience in companies).
